Shopping at Value Village aka VV Boutique is always better outside of the city, so I went on a mission and hit up VV north and south of the city. I found some pretty sweet stuff. My favourite find was a pair of never-been-worn white leather shoes. Love them!! They have a perforated pattern pattered and are lace-up. I also found this floral and lace swing top that I belted with a vintage gold belt I already owned. I’m also wearing my yoga jeans by Second Denim that I can’t get enough of. Sunglasses are from Opticianado – the coolest sunglasses store in town. JD
Never underestimate clothing yard sales. We love them! I got an awesome purse once from a yard sale on Gore Vale, and this past weekend I bought a top for $1.50. I gave the woman a toonie and said to keep the change, so it was actually $2. Always be sure to wash anything vintage you buy (that’s a given), and then you’re good to go.
I paired my new/old top with my yoga jeans by Second Denim ($110), Banana Republic clogs ($23), Cole Haan purse ($165), and Cheap Monday sunglasses ($30). It was a simple 90s look. I never thought I would like short tops again, but now that’s all I really like. It’s weird how fashion shifts and changes, but fun too. I just really hope flare jeans don’t come back, ew. JD
This is my ‘strolling the city’ weekend look. I pieced together something warm, but not too warm, that married comfort and style. Comfort is key in my world.
Second Denim Yoga Jeans – Shop Girls Gallery Boutique ($110)
Cropped sweater – H&M ($24)
Army inspired jacket – Esprit ($45)
Oxford shoes – Joe Fresh ($69)
Vintage gold belt – Print Fine Vintage ($10)
Neckerchief – gift from my Mamma
P.S – thank god for Yoga jeans – these pups allow me to be comfortable and still look stylish. Perfect for days I can’t handle wearing tight clothing. I need to get another pair in black or white or maybe every shade possible. JD
Do you own a pair of Yoga jeans by Second Denim? I didn’t until I visited Shopgirls Gallery Boutique and now I’m in love. They are 100% Canadian made and the denim has 92% shape memory, while the industry standard is 64%. They contour your body like second skin and hold their shape throughout the day….similar to a comfortable yoga pant.
Please note: it does not mean you can wear them to yoga class – please do not.
Before getting my pair, I was told that I’d never want to go back to regular jeans, and that is precisely right. You get the same look as a jean, but the feel of a yoga pant – PURE GENIUS!!!
Mine are the high rise skinny leg, but they come in a variety of rinses, shapes, and rises. If you’re looking for a new pair of jeans, I’d definitely check these out. They retail for $110 – a good investment if you ask me.
I’m also wearing:
* Lace top by Vero Moda from The Bay ($20)
* Belt from Zara ($10)
* Lace-up booties from H&M ($69)
