I went to the beach the other day, but I think it was the last beach day. Le sigh. My friends had these cute soft beach blankets that they found at Homesense for only $20. They’re Tommy Hilfiger and come in all sorts of adorable patterns and colours. I accidentally forgot to give mine back, so maybe I’ll just keep it. Assuming they don’t read this blog post…. JD
Exciting news for stylish Torontonians — Toronto Life launched a special fashion magazine called Stylebook.
Exciting news for Seven Dollar Pants — we appeared in the premier issue that hit shelves yesterday! We were so honoured and thrilled when writer Alex Laws approached us for an interview.
As Editorial Director Maryam Sanati put it, the book features “designers, trends, tastemakes and the shops that have advanced the sartorial pursuits of our city….a tip of the hat to Toronto’s independent and tribal fashion sense.”
We think it really encapsulates Toronto’s amazing and bustling style scene. Pick it up and check out page 122. JD & CM xo
These pics were taken post work at energyXchange studio. Julie and I fell in love with the studio over the past few months and are quickly going through the 20 classes we purchased on FabFind for $18 . Ridiculous I know. Either way, when they are used up, we will continue to frequent Jana’s Joga classes. They are intense but rewarding and Jana has motivated us like no other yoga instructor.
Here I am pre joga wearing my go-to summer pants – high-waisted, seersucker H&M numbers. My jacket is from Zara and pink top was a $4 purchase from VV Boutique. Trying to wear my favorite summer pieces before the summer comes to an end. Sigh. CM
I was going through some of my California trip pics last night and thought I’d share a few. If some of the shots look gloomy, truth be told it wasn’t as sunny as I thought it was going to be. Turns out Toronto summers are pretty damn good after all. JD
Dinner in Old Town, San Diego for delicious Mexican of course.
La Jolla Beach – taken after my surfing lesson.
On the train from San Diego to LA. A relaxing and very scenic way to travel.
View from the train.
Cute yard of the ghetto apartment we were supposed to stay in. Venice Beach.
View from our room at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Ray. From drab to fab!
After a few days spent surfing in San Diego, I headed back to LA. In a weird twist of plans, I ended up staying at The Ritz Carlton Marina Del Ray for the rest of my trip. It was BEYOND bliss! I took advantage of the lovely pool, ultra soothing hot tub, delicious watermelon water, and the gorgeous surrounding views. It really is top-notch service that makes all the difference. The staff at The Ritz were on their game at any given moment. It was the. best.
I didn’t wear much other than a bathing suit for most of the time, but I decided to pseudo dress-up for this photo. I wore my purple convertible dress from American Apparel, flowing top from H&M, floppy hat from Urban Outfitters, sunglasses from Forever 21, and sandals from Spring.
On crazy, overwhelming days, I’m going to think back to the moments I spent floating on my back, staring at the palm trees and the moon while night swimming. Great memories. JD

I’ve been on vacation in sunny California for the past few days, loving life, taking it all in. I spent a few days in LA and now I’m in San Diego.
I felt very Kelly Kapowski in this outfit yesterday. I stole this Esprit crop top from my cousin back in ’94. It accidentally ended up in my suitcase after a vacation we took together, so I just decided not to give it back. Every time she came to my house, I would hide it. I never even wore it, I just wanted to have it. Sorry Camille!
My vintage Levi’s jean shorts are from Penny Arcade; gold belt is from Print Fine Vintage; sunglasses are from Forever 21; and my new floppy hat is by Goorin Bros from Urban Outfitters. JD
